Butter: The Hot Girl Remix

Written by Kalijah Rahming

Hotties, listen up! School may be in session, but Hot Girl Summer will never die. On Aug. 27, BTS and Megan Thee Stallion released the newest remix to “Butter,” sending their fans into a frenzy.

Adding Megan Thee Stallion onto this track was an absolutely beautiful choice. Her honeyed vocals and powerful energy mixed perfectly with the seven members of BTS, forming a new yet familiar sound. The public reception of “Butter” has been wonderfully positive so far as fans continue to gush with adoration over the artists.

Shockingly, this beloved song might not have ever been released at all. On Aug. 24, it was revealed that the 3-time Grammy Award winning artist had to file a lawsuit against her record label, 1501, just to be featured on this remix.

Although the original version of “Butter” had topped the Billboard Charts for nine straight weeks, Megan was warned that collaborating with the South Korean boy group would not be “good for her career.” Additionally, 1501 asked for a $100,000 “waiver fee” to let her take part in the song. However, Megan would receive none of this money herself.

Despite the backlash from her company, Megan asked the Texas Court System to extend her temporary restraining order, allowing her to release the remix. The court order said not releasing the song “would irreparably damage her goodwill, reputation, and overall music career and infringes on her rights to self-expression through her music.”

This is not the first time that Megan has had to go up against her label, as she claimed that they were stopping her from putting out new music in 2020. Luckily, the judges sided in her favor on both occasions.

Although there is no official music video out yet, an official visualizer video has been released.

No one truly knows what is in store in the future for either Megan or BTS. But whatever happens, you can be sure that it will be “smooth like cocoa butter.”
